Preliminary Questions

Important Notice:- We will not be able to take your Notice of Civil Partnership unless you have booked the venue for your civil partnership first. See point 3 below:-

If you turn up for your appointment and you have not booked the venue where you want to for your civil partnership, your Notice appointment will not be able to go ahead.

A Notice of Civil Partnership is a legal process where you give information to the Superintedent Registrar, declaring to intend to be maried, without this (for a marriage in England and Wales) you cannot be legally form a civil partnerhship.

  1. You can only give notice within 12 months of your ceremony date but at least 29 days before it, as you have to wait at least a month before you are granted approval to form a partnership, even longer if you are subject to immigration control.
  2. You can only give Notice in the Registration District in which you live.
  3. You must know exact venue details where you are having your civil partnership, before you give a Notice of Civil Partnership. Please ensure you have made  a provisional booking with the venue of your choice and also the Registrars for the district where your civil partnership is to take place (if applicable) before continuing to make your appointment with us.
  4. You will need official documentation. At a Notice appointment each partner has to appear in person and will be asked to prove their name, address, nationality and that they are free to form a partnership, no-one can represent them on their behalf. Failure to bring the correct documentation may result in your appointment being re-scheduled. See Documents Needed

There is a statutory notice fee of £42 per person to pay, at your appointment.  We accept Cash (if its the correct ammount), Debit or Credit Card.

You will see a final CONFIRMATION page at the end of making your booking, please read through this information carefully as it contains a list of the required documentation that you will need to bring to your appointment.
